About Woodhall Spa

Situated some 20 miles south east of the Cathedral City of Lincoln, Woodhall Spa is a delightful inland resort, set against a backdrop of magnificent pine and birch woods. This beautifully kept town offers visitors a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, and is an ideal venue for a holiday or short break. Superb hotel and self-catering accommodation is available in plenty.

Popular with many visitors are the walks through the woodlands, especially when the rhododendrons, a famous feature of the town, are in full bloom. The Cottage Museum is a treasure trove of old photographs and memorabilia of the town. The Kinema, near the old Spa building, is one of few back projection cinemas in the Country, and even offers entertainment on an original Compton organ. The Woodhall Spa area is rich in sport and recreational facilities and is visited by many enthusiasts keen to pursue their particular interests or merely to spectate.

Jubilee Park offers tennis courts, a bowling green, an open air swimming pool complex, putting and a cricket ground. The Park also hosts the annual Woodhall Spa Show each Spring Bank Holiday, featuring Show Jumping, Shire Horses, Cattle Displays, amongst a host of other events and displays. Together with a large touring caravan site the Park offers a favourite place to relax and enjoy the flowers and trees.

Golf is one of the town’s major attractions and the Championship course situated to the east of the town has tested many a great player. Only a few miles away lies facilities for virtually every sport, especially at the Castle Leisure Park at nearby Tattershall.

Situated, as it is, almost in the centre of the beautiful County of Lincolnshire, Woodhall Spa’s facilities have made the town an excellent touring centre. The County has numerous attractions to offer. The Cathedral City of Lincoln is a must for most visitors, with its many historic buildings, a Castle and a Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Only a few miles away, lie the rolling hills and country market towns of the Lincolnshire Wolds. This area of outstanding natural beauty offers a glimpse of Old England, where you can drive for miles without seeing another car. A little further afield is the Lincolnshire Coast, with its famous seaside resorts of Mablethorpe and Skegness.

To the south lie the Lincolnshire Fenlands, where much of the country’s produce is grown, as well as the acres of colourful Springtime tulips, a sight which has to be seen to be believed. Closer to Woodhall Spa are some interesting ancient buildings such as the famous Tattershall Castle, the ruins of Kirkstead Abbey and Bolingbroke Castle, the birthplace of Henry IV in 1367. The Tower on the Moor, thought to be the remains of a 15th Century Hunting Lodge, is a popular local landmark.
