The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) Visitor Centre at RAF Coningsby offers a rare chance to get close to some of the RAF’s most iconic historic aircraft. Run in partnership with the Royal Air Force and Lincolnshire County Council, the Visitor Centre provides access to the BBMF’s home base, where the Flight maintains and operates its priceless heritage aircraft.
Visits are typically centred around a guided hangar tour, giving you behind-the-scenes insight into a working military hangar and the engineering, conservation and operational routines that keep these aircraft flying. You’ll learn about the BBMF’s role as a “living tribute” to the RAF personnel of the Second World War, and see (subject to operational needs) aircraft such as the Spitfire, Hurricane, and the famous Lancaster up close.
It’s a standout attraction for aviation enthusiasts and families alike, with on-site facilities including refreshments and shopping commonly available. Opening and tour availability can vary, and booking is recommended where possible.
